About Clay & Arrow

Behind the Clay
Clay & Arrow grew out of years of making. I first turned to pottery during a time when life was shifting. I was looking for something slower, more grounded, and creative. I joined a local studio and kept turning up - first because I was drawn to the craft, then to practise with purpose, and gradually to refine the way I worked. What began as a quiet practice became a steady rhythm, and over time, it evolved into Clay & Arrow.
Eventually, I felt ready to shape a space of my own, not as a departure from what I’d been part of, but as a quiet continuation. I remain connected to the people and places that shaped my practice, and I hope I always will be. Creating something of my own just felt like the natural next step: a chance to follow my instincts, develop my ideas more fully, and see what might grow from working in my own space.
I work from a small studio in Ocean Grove, making work by hand in small batches. I create pieces I feel connected to, shaped with care for tone, shape, and finish, and made to feel at home beyond just my own space. My style is shaped by the colours around me, the forms that make sense to me, and the patterns, details, and moments I notice. It continues to shift and each piece reflects where I am in the making.
When you bring a piece into your home, it becomes part of your space, your routines, and the way you live. It might be used every day, kept nearby, or simply noticed in passing. However it’s held or placed, I’m grateful for that exchange, and for the people who make space for this work in their lives. To anyone who’s brought a piece from Clay & Arrow into their home, thank you. I’m genuinely honoured and appreciative that my work has a place with you.
The name Clay & Arrow reflects the balance between grounding and movement - the tension between stillness and momentum, form and freedom, exploration and refinement. It’s also the shape of my maker’s mark, drawn from a small arrow I carry with me, and a quiet reminder of where this work comes from and where it’s going.
In a world that moves quickly, the choice to support handmade work carries weight. Thank you for helping keep craft alive, considered, and part of the everyday.
